Diagonal Stripes Socks

I just finished knitting these socks this afternoon. I designed them myself, so I'm feeling very grown up and pleased with myself today lol. These were knit on four 2.75 mm DPNs with Sirdar Country Style 4 Ply in shade #431 (discontinued). The photo doesn't do it justice, but it's a lovely teal kind of colour.

Below is a close-up of the stitch detail (click any photo for a larger view)

This pair is just the prototype, I just need to make a minor adjustment to the pattern and then they should be perfect.

The Grim Rapper

This is a sketch that my 13 year old son did in school today. Not bad eh? My son would love to see your comments. I have to say I just love those feet :o)

Cafe Curtains

I can't believe it's been 2 months since I last posted to my blog. Last night I finished the Cafe Curtains socks which were the Aug/Sept Beginner's KAL with For The Love Of Socks Yahoo! Group. I've been wearing them all day and they are sooooo verrrrry comfortable :o) I did a flap heel and a regular toe on these instead of those specified in the pattern. For these I used four 2.25mm dpn's and some light blue 4ply with no label. These are my first patterned socks and they were fun to do, but I did have to tink a few times when I was trying to knit and watch TV at the same time.

Fish Bowl

So far I have knitted 24 fish for the KAL at Bits & Bobs 2 so here they all are in a bowl. I suppose I should start joining them together at some point, but it's not half as fun as knitting.
I didn't get many fish made this past week because I was busy making more socks. Photo of those to come in a later post...
The past two days I have been knitting rows for the latest Monthly Dishcloth KAL. I still have the mid-month cloth from June OTN, but I can't see me finishing it any time soon. I much prefer the picture cloths at the start of the month. I'm knitting the current cloth in orange acrylic and want to use it for a blanket square rather than a dishcloth. I have an idea of what the picture is - but my lips are sealed :o)

More Socks & Grown-up Knitting

After finishing the Kismet Socks yesterday I was planning on knitting more fish for the KAL. Well... I managed one more... then I decided it would be a good idea to cast on for a pair of socks :o)
So far I have gone past the heel and finished decreasing so now it's just round and round for a few more inches before decreasing for the toes. Now this is only my third pair of socks, but I'm designing them myself and making notes as I go. No more scooting back to Silver's Sock Class every five minutes.
A strange thing happened to me this afternoon whilst I was working on this baby. I suddenly found myself knitting like a grown-up. For the past six months I have been taking my right hand off the needles to "throw" the yarn. It can get a bit painful trying to keep a good tension when the yarn is gripped tightly in your fist, but I didn't know any better. All in all I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself today *grinning from ear to ear*

Kismet Socks

Here's a pair of socks that I finished this morning using Paton's Kismet in shade 380. It's a blend of 80% Acrylic and 20% Mohair and wonderfully soft when knitted up. I picked up two full 50g balls in a local charity shop last week for 50 pence and knew exactly what I wanted to turn them into.

This is only my second pair of socks and I'm rather pleased with them. Just hoping that I get a chance to wear them myself. My 12 year old son is modelling them here and hasn't taken them off since he tried them on this morning.

Fish Pile

Here is my pile of 17 fishies that I have made so far for the fish-a-long. It's now been moved over to a sister group because it was taking over Bits and Bobs. I have been making these from left overs in DK weight acrylic, nylon etc in a range of blues, purples, pinks and aqua. Still not decided yet wether to make them into an afghan or a cushion cover - lets see how it goes :0)

June KAL

Here's my results from the latest monthly dishcloth KAL

It's a lovely leaping unicorn. I decided to do a garter stitch border because moss stitch drives me nutty.
I only joined the group just over a month ago and I love taking part and trying to work out what the image is going to be.

Testing, testing

This is my first post to my first blog. I just wanted to make sure it was working ok before I start posting for real :o)
More to come later...
