Finished Objects

I'm getting so lazy about posting to this blog. Just too busy knitting I suppose :o)

I have finished a few objects lately, including some socks and an Adipose.

I knitted Jacobeans by Julie Persinger back in March. These were the first pair for the Sock Knitters Pentathlon. They were my first pair of toe-ups and first time doing a wrap and turn heel. The pattern was written for circular needles, but there's only so much a girl can learn on one pair of socks so I turned to my trusted DPNs and the socks turned out just fine. The next pair of socks in the Pentathlon will be announced on May 1st. Can't wait to see what they will be...

Next were the Lilac Socks by Jeanie Townsend which were the sock for March in the Townsend Socks KAL group on Ravelry.

I also made an Adipose by Mazzmatazz. This little creature was featured on the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who. Can you believe that Mazzmatazz had the pattern on her website within two days of the episode being aired - now that's dedication.
He was a very quick knit - I started him on Thursday and he was finished and photographed on Friday. This one belongs to my youngest son, but I think I might have to make another one for me. You can easily get two from a 50g ball of DK. I used Sirdar Country Style and I still have 34g left so I could probably get another two from that with luck.

Harrison Baby Socks

I made these for my youngest sister's new baby boy who was born on 1 February. I started them on Tuesday afternoon and finished them Wednesday evening.

I designed the socks using a modified version of the Triangle Ribs stitch from the "Harmony Guide to Knitting Stitches". Quite a bit of frogging and re-writing was involved, but I got it in the end. This is the second pair of socks I have designed and there are a few more in the pipeline. I'm also hoping to turn this design into an adult size in the near future.

Yarn used - an anonymous baby acrylic 4ply from my stash.
Needles used - set of four 2.75mm DPNs

Spring Twists

I just finished the Spring Twists Socks by Jeanie Townsend last night - they have the cutest little cables running down the leg.

I usually knit my socks with 4 DPNs, so found it a bit fiddly at first using 5, but after the first 3 or 4 rounds I soon got the hang of it.

These were knit with Forsell Superwash 4 ply in Dusky Pink which I got for a very good price on ebay.
